Donation spotlight: Steunpunt Avalon

At Apolix, we recognise that in order to maintain the integrity of the planet, we must donate to causes who work towards bettering nature and society – those who focus on the wellbeing of the world. That’s why we pledge 1% of our revenue to minimise our impact and secure a future for younger generations.

When companies share donations and causes they support, it creates a ripple effect. By sharing how much your business gives, it can increase donations to the charity, increase employee satisfaction, and build a stronger brand reputation. It also helps to normalise and create a more philanthropic society.

As a company of the future, we donate to many organisations that are close to our hearts. One in particular is Steunpunt Avalon.

Steunpunt Avalon is a foundation that works with young people across the Netherlands who are at risk of falling between the cracks. Founded and operated by Noa van Hagen, Steunpunt Avalon is a force for good – helping children and young people living with loneliness, mental health issues, and addiction.

Noa founded Steunpunt Avalon after losing a close friend to suicide, whom she named the foundation after. She believes that youth care is vital in society, especially in the Netherlands where, in 2020, more than 400,000 children received some form of youth care.

“Creating initiatives are crucial for young people to prevent them from developing chronic psychiatric disorders, from succumbing to addiction, or from permanently relying on social provisions and care.” – Noa van Hagen, Founder of Steunpunt Avalon.

Having personal experience with the youth care system, Noa set out to create an initiative that inspires and engages young people. Steunpunt Avalon provides a safe space for young people to talk and relate to others who may be experiencing similar issues.

At one of the multiple centres across the country, they can participate in physical exercise or creative, healing and therapeutic activities. In 2023, Apolix was able to sponsor Steunpunt Avalon’s week-long trip to the Ardennes, where young people could partake in activities, games, as well as group and individual therapy sessions – all of which were optional.
